Murphy NC 28906 - A growing community with small town charm
Chat is now live on Murphy Connections.
Good afternoon, Murphy!
After this morning's Coffee Club, I was asked to add chat to their group.
Their wish is my command.
I can't add chat to just one group, but I did add it to the entire community.
I don't know how it works, yet.
If you look at the bottom right corner of any page, you'll see three icons. The first expands the chat window, which can later be collapsed at the top of the chat window.
The second is Pop Out and causes a new window to be opened. To me, that looks like it may be more useful, but I don't know much about chatting.
The third one (with the red or green dot) causes you to go online (so you can chat, I assume) or offline.
I'm hoping some of you who are much more familiar with chatting will chime in here and help the rest of us understand how this works.
If you're on dial-up, you'll notice that pages take longer to load. If you're on broadband, you may not notice the difference.
If you have very fast broadband, you'll see me turning green with envy! ;)

I had a nice chat with myself, without a hitch... JD... now I'm going to drink my coffee. Basically I am avoiding work that involves mental concentration in favor of frivolous mindless babbling... but .... it seems ... y'must be bushy tailed morning people around here. Hit me up sometime if your a night bird like me. (were you going to send me something John?) ~cat

It's nice to hear that you can chat with yourself. I did that yesterday after setting it up. (grin)
I think it's going to take some more time before people start becoming aware of other's schedules. With more members joining all the time, it's bound to get more active. We'll start actively promoting Murphy Connections this month.
I think they're talking about either moving the Coffee Club chat to the evenings or maybe adding another chat in the evenings. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong about that.
As for me, I don't keep "real people" hours, so you never know when I'll be online. It just depends on whether I feel like working, or not.
Yep. I'm going to send you a couple of them in the next day or two so you'll have time to look at them and see if it's what you had in mind. If so, I plan to send in at least a couple ahead of schedule so I won't miss a deadline.
I'm going to do my best to get two of them to you by tomorrow (Thursday) evening.

lol - evidently I'm a bushy tailed morning person too - 3:42 am - but I'm assuming since I haven't been to bed yet, i would be considered by most as a "Night Owl"? lol

Good morning, Jim and Debbie.
Since nobody was using the chat feature (and because it was hard to find more than one person on the site at the same time), I turned off the chat feature and enabled some others.
There is a limit of 20 features that we can have on a community hosted by Ning.com and sometimes trade-offs have to be made.
If we ever get enough people who are interested in chatting, I'll see what I can do to turn it back on.
