Murphy NC 28906 - A growing community with small town charm

I know my garden doesn't even compare with yours, but I'm proud of the two mater plants that are growing on my porch. They haven't give me any maters yet, but they're working on it and I'm getting a mite impatient waiting for them to ripen.

The first crop had blossom end rot and I had to toss all of them. I added some calcium concentrate to the soil and the current crop is looking like it might actually ripen and jump onto a few sandwiches in the near future!

I water them twice a day and noticed that I'm having to give them twice as much water as I did previously so they won't droop and look so pitiful.

So, how's your garden doing?

Have you harvested anything? How's it taste?

We discovered that we have wild strawberries all over the place in the valley by the creek! And Debbie planted a little Blue Spruce tree and some Raspberries last time we were up.
We are fortunate to have wonderfull neighbors, who have watered them for us from the creek! We`re looking forward to see how they`ve weathered the summer on our next trip up.
I love wild strawberries. I hope everything did well over the summer. We had a dry spell for a bit, but then we started getting more rain and things perked back up.

The weather forecast is for hot dry days for the next week, but it's getting a bit cooler during the nights and I'm really enjoying that.

My two tomato plants have been producing lots of bright red maters and Stacey says they're good. Right now, with this chemo, I don't have much of an appetite and haven't eaten any of them yet. Two things I really enjoy, coffee in the mornings and sliced tomatoes on sandwiches, just don't sound good at all right now. But that's okay.

You're fortunate, indeed, to have neighbors who will help care for your tender green plants while your not around. Good for them!
