Information

Local Crafters

I wanted to start this group for all crafts people in the area. I do a lot with woodwork, beading, crocheting and it's been a while, but knitting too. I thought it might be nice if we all shared our knowledge and experience, patterns, suggestions etc

Kevon, right now Elizabeth lives in South Africa and is wanting to move here as soon as they sell their place there.

There are quite a few basket makers in the area. Again, one of the best ways to get in touch is to check in at the Folk School and see if they can introduce you to someone.

You might also want to check in at Carolina Crafting in Brasstown or Appalachian Heritage Crafters in Murphy.

Elizabeth, your work is BEAUTIFUL! I want to come and "play" at your house... I am new to the area and I enjoy 'playing' with my hands. Your woodwork looks so beautiful. I tend to the needle work and crafting side a bit more, but wish I could build beautiful things like you.

I am going to take classes at the Folk school on basketry. Are there any of you that are making baskets?

Good morning, Elizabeth.

Those are some beautiful items.

I just thought I'd mention that more people may find them when searching, if you were to post each photo separately and post a caption describing the item. Information about how it was made and what inspired you to create it also helps people find your items and you. (Just a tip for future consideration.)

Also, posting them in a discussion allows others to comment and keeps each topic of discussion separate.

All the best,

JD

Here are some pictures of some of the woodworking items I have made. As you see some are turned pieces, others are not. I find working with wood wonderful. I always have one request when purchasing timber and that is, it has to be from legally failed trees. I do not tolerate poaching in anything, ever.
