Wow, Jim and Debbie, that's a big step forward. It must feel nice to have a model of your cabin and a set of blue prints.

I just looked at the new model you built and that's going to be a beautiful home. I'll bet you're going to enjoy living in it.

Woo Hoo! We got our blue prints! It`s quite a bit different from the one pictured below. After selecting the site on our land, the cabin just wouldn`t "fit" right. So, we modified it, (a LOT), then built a new model.
We took a couple sketches, and about 60 photos of the model to the architect, and from that he drew up a full set of working blue prints! Here`s a link to pictures of the cabin model "final version", the one we hope to someday build....

It sounds like you've got a plan and you're on the right track too build your dream log cabin. That sounds great.

We also plan to eventually bring the model to the log home builder to see, so they can get us a set of plans drawn up. We`ve talked to them about it, and they are waiting for us to do final measurements and tweaking.
Of course the septic needs to go in first, before the permit expires.

I can tell that it was a lot of work, but it's one sure way to visualize what you're going to have before it's built for real.

Thank you John! It started with a line drawing of a floor plan. But the wife could`nt visualize what the end product would look like. So I built her the model for a "3-D" perspective. Then she said she couldn`t tell how big the rooms were, so I went to a doll house store, and got some scaled furniture for it! More pictures in an album on our page.

That's an impressive model! Somebody put in a lot of work to make that.

We plan to build a cabin for vacations & eventual retirement 'summer home". It needs to be small enough that we don`t spend our golden years cleaning & maintaining it, but yet big enough if one of our sons come up for a visit with the families they will have by then.
We have a plan for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath, and even built a scale model of it. I`ll work on getting some pictures of it posted.

John,
We move in our log home Christmas day of 1999. What a blessing! But the way we got there didn't seem like it at the time....In September we were flooded when Floyd blew through and left 13 feet of water in our house. Needless to say, we moved, but had no idea where we would end up. To make a very long story short, we found our log home and it not only turned into a lifestyle, but also our livelyhood. Restoring our log home led to starting Taskmasters Wood Maintence. When we have that cup of coffee, I will ..Like Paul Harvey would say, tell you the rest of the story.
