Murphy NC 28906 - A growing community with small town charm

I'm hearing rumors that Cherokee County is going to cut 55 teaching positions. Can we really afford to lose this many teachers? Maybe we should suggest they cut Central Office positions and non-essential bull positions first, then teaching positions if they still need to cut the budget.

Well, I tend to agree - i know at Ranger, they barely have enough teachers as it is - but seeing as how I home-school, I'm not a very good person to be commenting on this. Does Cherokee County Board of Education have a yearly budget posted online anywhere? Need to check it out. I'll do that before Tuesday morning.
Hi Dena,

I found a PDF file that is about 4 MB for Cherokee County 2009/2010 Budget Documents that may be what you're looking for. You can download it much faster than I can.

Maybe it will save you some searching time.
