Hi John, While a second bathroom is desirable when selling a house, you don't need to focus on finishing the basement at this time. If you want to do something in preparation for selling in a couple of years, you could have the basement framed so a prospective buyer can get an idea of how the basement will "lay out." Some buyers have difficulty envisioning what's not there. Am assuming your home is 2 bedrooms? It should be at least 2 bedrooms to sell it.
