I just added a comment but I don't see it so I must have done something wrong. Oh well! Not the first time. :-)

We finally got moved into our cabin on Bear Trail Mountain on March 1 and we are loving it and the area. Spent ten days deep cleaning the cabin and are not ready to enjoy. The rain should stop one of these days soon.

Thanks for the reminder, Jim and Debbie.

Here's a link to the Poltrock Team's Church Directory page.

Hope it helps.

Look up John Poltrock on Murphy Gold, I believe he has a list compiled on one of his pages somewhere of several different churches of different faiths.

Hello,

My husband and are new to town. This is a first for me. I have always lived close to my family. I am just really looking for a way to connect with folks from town.

We are also trying to find a good church. Any ideas?

Good evening, Arleene.

In addition to the Cherokee County Extension office, you could probably meet folks of like mind at the Campbell Folk School.

I agree that it's hard to meet new people around here and that's one of the reasons I started this site. I'm hoping lots more people in the area will find it and join us.

I've already met several great people this year, right here, and seeing them in person was a very enjoyable experience.

Maybe next spring we can throw an picnic or pot-luck dinner.

All the best,

JD

My husband and I have owned our land here in Murphy for about 15 years, but we're only just now able to start regularly spending time here. As such, I consider myself "new" to Murphy.

It is difficult to meet people outside of employment. My husband and I are both retired, so that avenue is closed to us. We've met our immediate neighbors, but that's about it.

In previous cities in which I have lived, I've found volunteer activities as one way to meet people, with the added benefit that these folks will share your interests. As a retired teacher, I will approach the schools in my community to see if they can use any help. As a Master Gardener in Georgia, I will eventually find my way to the Extension office in Cherokee Co, and see what needs they have. And of course I look forward to this web site providing possible outlets for me to involve myself.

I was new to Murphy way back in 1984, when I moved here from Phoenix, AZ so I could help Mom and Dad when Dad was sick for awhile.

I was hired at Tri-County Community College to teach courses about computers and programming and worked there for several years.

Working at the college made it relatively easy to meet new people. That may not be true if you work in a different environment. I do almost all of my work at home now, so unless I specifically set out to meet new people, it isn't nearly as easy.

These days, I meet more people online than I do in face-to-face "real life."

I'm not exactly new to Murphy, but I remember how it felt when I was.

Don't be shy. Introduce yourself and meet new friends.

Act on your dream!
