The First Time I Saw The Gorge, I was totally amazed at the beauty Of The Site. I have never canoed but I enjoy just watching the gorge and the people on the river.

I love the Nantahala River. I've canoed many rivers and it remains my favorite. There's just something about the beauty of the gorge, the cold water, easy whitewater, and other things that I just can't bring to mind right now that makes me love it. It doesn't matter whether I'm on the water or just driving along beside it.

I doubt that I'd be living in Murphy now if it hadn't been for all those trips from Atlanta to canoe the Nantahala River. That's how I discovered Lake Hiwassee, Hanging Dog Campground, the Folk School, and all the other things that kept drawing me back here.
