Chief Junaluska's Birthplace

This is a stone monument that reads, "Birth Place of Chief Junaluska CA 1775."

It is located on Depot Street off of Tennessee Street near the north end of downtown Murphy. Go north on Tennessee Street to Dickey Supply Co. and turn left just before their building, on Depot Street. The monument is located about a half-block ahead on the left (south) side of the road.

(If you're using Google Maps, they show Dickey Supply Co. in the wrong location. They are a block farther north than is shown on the map.)

If you continue down the hill on Depot Street, the road curves to the left and becomes Railroad Street. Follow that to the L&N Depot and you'll come out just west of town on Hiwassee Street.

(From there, it's an easy ride or walk to the pyramid.)
