Maybe they got their green thumbs by planting by the signs! :)
Honestly, though, I do believe there is something to the old folklore. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
My husband and I have owned our land here in Murphy for about 15 years, but we're only just now able to start regularly spending time here. As such, I consider myself "new" to Murphy.
It is difficult to meet people outside of employment. My husband…
Are you new to Murphy, NC? This is a good place to introduce yourself and make new friends. Share information about how to get settled into our community and what to do.
Hi John,
I have not needed to use WiFi in town, but I have heard that the Welcome Center on 64 offers access, and it is free of charge. If I'm not mistaken, the Daily Grind downtown might also offer connections. Not sure if they charge anything.

Currently have our second home here in Murphy, with plans on moving here permanently at some point in time. Husband and I are retired, and loving our laid-back lifestyle. We are interested in planting our feet more firmly in this area, meeting more people, and becoming more involved in local events and activities. This site seems like it will be a perfect match!!

Thanks for telling me about the scrapbooking store. As yet, I have not had time to even think about getting back into that project. Normally, I work at it steady during January and February, but this winter was different for us...buying the cabin and moving. I will be sure to check out the store and let you know.

Good afternoon, Arleene.
I agree with your thoughts about the Murphy Christmas celebration last night. I had a great time there, too.
I hope you and your family have a very happy Thanksgiving.
I was reading the conversation between you and John about meeting new people. I wanted to let you know the folk school has free contra dancing every Tuesday night from 7 till 8. Its a great place to meet people and have fun-it's also fun to watch if you're not interested in dancing.
Also-my girls attend The Learning Center in Murphy-the school is huge on folks volunteering from the community-so if you live near by maybe you could check them out.
Just wanted to say thank you-for joining my group. Hopefully when you have time you can check out my site- www.blindpigandtheacorn.com I write about all things Appalachian.
Hope you have a good day!!

Good afternoon, Arleene.
No problem on the Facebook link. We've all done it.
I'm happy to hear that you enjoy Murphy Connections. While I manage the site, I like to think of it as belonging to all of us who are interested in living in and visiting Murphy. Your contributions will make it even better.
All the best,
JD
