We love the idea of changing the header with the seasons, and it is a BIG reason we love the area so much. We miss the changing of the seasons down here. A shot of the fall colors, and the ones you & Dena posted with the fence in the snow was a GREA…

I`m not sure if it opened on Facebook, but I posted the photo called "Blue Ridge 1", that was taken somewhere between downtown, and the John Campbell folk school. This is the first thing that pops in our mind when we think of Murphy. We like the loo…

We discovered that we have wild strawberries all over the place in the valley by the creek! And Debbie planted a little Blue Spruce tree and some Raspberries last time we were up. We are fortunate to have wonderfull neighbors, who have watered them…

Woo Hoo! We got our blue prints! It`s quite a bit different from the one pictured below. After selecting the site on our land, the cabin just wouldn`t "fit" right. So, we modified it, (a LOT), then built a new model. We took a couple sketches, and a…

The closest canoe rentals according to a Google search are on or near Lake Nottley, down around Blairesville GA, and another one in Copperhill, TN. You may also try a google search for "marina murphy nc".... that gives a list of marinas and boatyard…

Brasstown Bald is the highest point in Georgia and is located near Young Harris. I wouldn't call it a park, but it's been quite a while since I visited there, so things may have changed. As I remember it, Brasstown Bald is basically a great scenic…

So, should this be limited to just around Murphy, or say within a half-hour or one-hour drive? I would think an hour`s drive an acceptable range for a fun outing. One place we found interesting was the small cemetary located just off the big parking…

If you're looking for a good, inexpensive lunch, try the snack bar in Parker's Drugs right in the center of downtown Murphy. They may have the best french fries in town.

I think that is a great idea. If we can get some input from others who know the area well, I'll do my best to compile it into a web page and maybe a downloadable PDF file. So, should this be limited to just around Murphy, or say within a half-hour…

Sounds like you have a lot in common with us! We are following a similar plan! We hope to get back in the fall to see the colors.......uh, I mean...... to work some more on the driveway clearing. We`ll likely meet with the contractor for an estimate…

Thank you John! It`s hard to tell in the pictures, but for perspective, Snoopy is about 2 feet tall, 2 feet long, and one foot wide. The tree faces are about 4 feet tall. The giant mushrooms are 2 1/2 feet in diameter, and 2 1/2 feet tall. The car b…

I do a little sketching, and painting. But Debbie & I both enjoy working with fiberglass. We start by making a "plug", or model of what we want to make. We use big blocks of styrofoam, wood, or cardboard, to create the model. Then we wax it, apply m…

If you heard chainsaws in the distance, that would have been us! We`re sorry to have missed meeting Dena in person, but vow to do so on our next trip!

I had a minor setback the last 24 hours, but everything is going much better tonight. Looking forward to walking more and sitting in a chair now that I'm tethered by fewer tubes!

Good morning, Jim and Debbie.

Welcome to our friendly little online community for people who are interested in Murphy.

That's a nice collection of old gas pumps and Coca-Cola products you have in your collection, as shown on your website.

If there is anything I can do to help you get more from Murphy Connections, please let me know.

All the best,

JD

WELCOME!!!!! Happy to meet you. We have lived here almost 18 years and raised our children here. We have never regretted it. Our children have moved away with their jobs and are now trying to make plans to return. They miss the Murphy small town charm terribly. Confirms our decision to move here that many years ago!
Blessings, Kelly
