Good afternoon, Joan.

I don't know much about weekly rentals in the area, but I think John Poltrock might be able to help you. He has his finger on the pulse of the real estate market and also handles some cabin rentals, too. He'd know much more about it than I do.

You can find all his other contact information on his website at: http://www.mymurphy.com/

Hope that helps.

Good morning, Joan.

Sorry to hear about your van, but I can relate. My car has been in the shop for a couple of weeks and I'm hoping it will be running again before too much longer.

Truthfully, I can't imagine living through those cold winters up north. I like cooler temperatures, but not that cold. As much as I love snow, I like it best the way it is around Murphy. We get a pretty blanket of snow and then it is gone in two or three days.

I think Murphy is a great area. I love the peace and quiet and there are several cities that are about a two or three hour drive.

The economy is down here compared to a couple of years ago and we currently have the sixth highest unemployment rate of all counties in the state - just under 15%. So, finding a job, even part-time, can be hard.

We're all looking forward to the economy rebounding; hopefully, soon.

All the best,

JD

Good afternoon, Joan.

Congratulations on your retirement!

Welcome to our friendly little online community for people who are interested in Murphy, NC.

I think you'll like Murphy even more once you visit here. Since you are an artist, you must visit the John C. Campbell Folk School. They are located about a dozen miles south of Murphy in Brasstown, NC.

One of our other members started a discussion about things to see in Murphy: Can't Miss This! I think you'll find some good ideas there, and please feel free to join in the discussions or add some of your own.

There are several campgrounds in the area that can accommodate most RVs. Since I don't travel by RV or have any experience with them, I'll leave it to someone else to suggest which campground you might like.

If there is anything I can do to help you get more from Murphy Connections, please let me know.

All the best,

JD
