Good morning, Michael. You're right. It looks like the Men With Pens site is undergoing some sort of change. Hope the links start working again, soon. I don't even have the main character sketches done, yet! But, I'm thinking about it. Not writer…

I tried those links. Apparently Men with Pens have become Men with A Game to Watch... or something. Anyhow, site down for what I assume is a remodel of some kind. Bummer. I'll try again later. So... as I sit here drumming my fingers on the desktop…

I am thankful for being able to live here in Murphy

Good afternoon.

Yesterday, I spent almost all day in town, talking to business owners I already knew, meeting new ones, and spreading the word about Murphy Connections and Murphy Gold.

As the day progressed, I was reminded, all over again, how much I love living here and how much I appreciate the people who have lived here all their lives and others, like me, who have chosen to move here.

Murphy isn't perfect, but it's the best place I've ever lived.

Have you ever noticed how clean the town… Continue

Thank you, veterans

Today is a national holiday for celebrating the end of World War I, and which later became a holiday to celebrate veterans of all US wars.

To some it may sound trite, but to others it is a deeply held, heartfelt bit of wisdom: Freedom isn't free.

For every war that the United States has fought, there have been thousands or even millions of our neighbors, friends, and family slogging in the mud, freezing in the cold, burning in the heat, and being exposed to things and events that nobody wants… Continue

Happy birthday, Mom. I miss you.

This has been an emotional day for me. It's Mom's first birthday since she died almost a year ago. I didn't want to be alone in the house, so I left early this morning and was gone all day.

I tried to keep my mind off of this and not dwell on it, but whenever I was driving, I would return to memories of her. I thought of her when I was young and she was so active and friendly. I thought of her after she moved to Murphy and she and Dad loved living here and met great friends. Then, without warni… Continue

Morning John

All my wishing didn't get us any snow did it : ) My father-n-law has 15 inches he lives in Haywood County in the canton area. I'm so jealous. But there are lots of roads shut down out there too-so I'm not jealous of folks stuck in their cars at all. Hope you have a good day. One of my girls has her first violin recital today-keep your fingers crossed it goes well.

As soon as Tipper can show me the ropes on this site, I'll join Local Writers. Today I was guest at a "Book Party" where I read from my poetry book and every guest bought a book. WOW!
Such a nice day.

Howdy John!

I've been very fortunate to have a few friends agree to make the book available, and they'll be mentioned in the Scout ad coming out next week.
Nate's Country Store, Twice Upon a Time, Ranger Convenience, and Mountain Valley Pack & Ship.

So far, so good. The early reviews I got from my "proofers" was excellent. I know that no book is for "everyone"... we all have different tastes. But, to those who fit into the genre I've chosen... they should have a lot of fun turning my pages!

Funny you should mention the Trekkie thing. I pay homage to it in my book.

John-thank you : ) I do a post like that at the end of each month. I feel it's the least I can do for folks who are supporting me by visiting my site. A lot of folks don't care about the links-but I'm sure you know as well as I do-if you are trying to raise your google rating-every little link helps!

Hope you're enjoying this rainy day-I'm wishing it would stop : )
