John-hope you'll let us know how your homemade boxes do. We haven't planted any tomatoes yet-but we have plenty in the green house. This year I'm most excited about my new apple trees. My mom n law bought me 3 for mother's day. I…
John-I hope we get to meet up on Sunday. The girls clog at 12:40 on the fesitval barn stage-and then the Blind Pig gang will be performing on the same stage at 2:00. I'm hoping we have lots of sunshine-and some cooler fall temps too : )
Enjoy…
Yummy Jane! The pancakes sound so good-acutally it all does : ) I've made apple butter in my crock pot too-now I need to try the pumpkin butter.

Good afternoon, Tipper.
You're welcome. No, I haven't heard about all the power outages, but I guess that usually goes with big storms, whether rain or snow. Right now, my only heat is electric, so I sure don't want the power going out on a cold day!
I think we're all waiting for a white Christmas. Good luck.

Good afternoon, Tipper.
I just wanted to take a moment to tell you I added a link to your blog on the Appalachian Heritage page of my Act On Your Dream! website.
All the best,

Good afternoon, Tipper.
No, it didn't. (sigh) I did see a half-dozen big flakes mixed in the rain, but that was all.
I'm not sure I'd wish 15 inches of snow on my friends and neighbors the weekend before Christmas! I feel for those poor folks stranded in their cars. I've been there and didn't like it. Now, if it wanted to snow 15 inches on my little mountain and leave everyone else alone (except for maybe you), that would be okay with me. (grin)
I wish her well with that violin recital.
I can play most stringed instruments, including mandolin, so I thought that would give me a head start when when I wanted to play the violin (as a fiddle), but it didn't. All my friends and neighbors got tired of hearing me try to learn and one said he was going to call the cops and tell them I was torturing cats. So, after a few years, I quit trying. I finally got to where it sounded more or less like music, but not what I wanted.
I was talking to George Kelischek one day and told him I wanted him to put frets on my violin. He looked at me like I was crazy and said, "You DO NOT put frets on a VIOLIN! I will not do it." Now, many years later, I agree with him, but at the time I thought it was a good idea. (grin)
BTW, I use the word "goozle" all the time and try not to ever get anything stuck in my goozle. I've heard "granny woman" used, but never said it myself. Never heard of "gom" or "garden sass." (If anyone else is reading this, see Tipper's latest Appalachian language test on her blog, The Blind Pig and The Acorn.)
