Murphy NC 28906 - A growing community with small town charm

I wanted to share a little bit about the excitement I am having at the moment. We own a small farm here in South Africa, which we are selling to move to NC. One of the farmers uses one of our camps to graze his oxen and in exchange we get fresh farm milk 3 times a week. We pasteurize the milk ourselves and before we did so this weekend, we decided to separate the cream from the milk, which is not a lot as you can imagine. We did this on a couple of bottles and stored it in the refrigerator, then on Sunday, I made for the first time in my entire life, homemade butter. It has turned out to be very good and it was done by hand, so I am very proud indeed.

When we get moved to the Murphy area, I am looking forward to being able to continue making it. I hope that I will be able to find farmers in the area who will allow me the fresh cream. I am hooked.

Another thing that has me on cloud 9 is the fact that I have landed a client in New Mexico for my Virtual Assistant work. We are working on one of his websites and things pertaining to his business at the moment and have already discussed getting onto the next project when this one is completed as far as we can take it except general maintenance. So slowly things are picking up and my life really is getting fulfilled.

My husband's 70th birthday is on Wednesday the 26th of May, in 2 days and we wanted to be able to celebrate it in the US, but since we have not sold here, that will not be possible this year, so we hope that we will be celebrating his 71st next year in the US. We have a small dinner planned with another couple from the community, Wednesday night. We are having Roasted Top Shoulder of Lamb, Roasted Potatoes, Green Beans, small yellow squash and for his cake, I am making a Black Forest Cake. Naturally there will be wine and mixed drinks, but all in all it will be a fun night.

It does not take a lot to make my life exciting and fulfilled. Great family, wonderful friends, steady work and the husband every woman dreams of, that is my Mike. Life is so wonderful and when one looks at the positive instead of always feeding on the negative, life is perfect in every way.

Good morning, Elizabeth.

Congratulations on making butter for the first time. I think it tastes a bit better when you make it yourself.

It sounds like you're doing well with your Virtual Assistant work.

Happy birthday to Mike!

Enjoy the positive, eliminate the negative.

All the best,

JD
