Murphy NC 28906 - A growing community with small town charm
Hello Murphy,
Well it has certainly been a while since I last posted on here, and I must say, shame on me. I have been busy with other things and for that I am truly sorry that I have neglected everyone here.
Some sad news, my mother passed away this past Friday and her funeral service was on Sunday. I could not be there, but in spirit I was. In fact I actually did my own service here in my special room. I celebrated her life rather than her passing. She was such an inspiration to me as she fought Breast Cancer, eye surgery and numerous other horrible atrophies in her lifetime and she always did it with a positive attitude and a big smile. She never had a harsh word towards anyone. This is where I get my positiveness from and for that I am extremely grateful. I miss her so very much.
Mike and I are leaning towards the idea that I will come to NC to start things rolling for our move. We have not sold the house yet, but we are keeping a positive attitude that we will soon. I would like to know if anyone in the Murphy area happens to have any suggestions for where I might find a room inexpensively to rent for a little while? I have a lot of things that need to be taken care of before we even consider purchasing a permanent home in the area. Mike will stay in South Africa until the property is sold, then he will join me. We will be on a very low budget until then. If you know anyone willing to rent out a room in their home for very little, please let me know.
I will have to find some transport, but these are some of the things that cannot be done over the Internet or while overseas, so it is going to take quite a bit of planning on our part to pull this off. We know we can do it, it is just a matter of finding the right connection.
I hope to be able to hear from someone soon, then we will have an idea of how to go about getting this done.
Comment by John Dilbeck on June 14, 2011 at 10:12am Good morning, Elizabeth.
It's good to hear from you. I'm sorry to hear about your Mom. It sounds like she was a special lady.
I don't know where you can find a room to rent, but I'll put the word out to my friends and see if anything turns up.
All the best,
JD
Comment by Paralee Dawson Hayward on June 28, 2011 at 4:20pm Ed and I may be able to help. We have an extra room with private bathroom and full use of the house. Outside decking and porchs for private get-a-ways. We do have a dog but she loves everyone. I sent a friend request to Elizabeth but if you should hear from her please send the word.
Comment by Elizabeth Mason on July 1, 2011 at 4:13am I would like to say Thank you kindly to Paralee and Ed. This is quite special for their offering to open their doors to a total stranger. This I cannot even begin to tell you how it makes me feel inside my heart. Even if the plans happen to unnecessary, it is nice to know that there are some really nice and giving souls around. It is truly refreshing. I am looking forward to the day that we can meet face to face and perhaps become good friends.
One thing for sure, you will not have to worry about me making a huge mess and being a party person and going wild, for those days have LONG since passed with age. I will turn 60 in August, even though I do not act it nor actually look it. Age is only a point in time.
I have written Paralee a long message and I do hope to hear from her soon.
May everyone be blessed in all they do, say, think and in their actions.
