Murphy NC 28906 - A growing community with small town charm
Wilderness Warriors is off and rolling.
I just wanted to take a hike in the woods but its always hard to find folks with time from home and work responsibilities to take the time off. Hiking alone one day I had a wonderful idea to start working with children and getting them out into the woods and encouraging them to take a greater interest in the natural world. What I won't do for a hike in the woods.
The Cherokee Scout is launching the awareness article for us. Watch the issue on June 8th for more information. The biggest challenge is getting volunteers to assist with the programs. There are so many ways you can help.
You don't have to hike or even go outside. Wilderness Warriors will need help with fund raisers, seeking out sponsors, gathering volunteers, telemarketing, computer work (emails and promotionals), designing and printing promotional and marketing tooks (brochures, flyers, event posting, etc.), give-aways for each child that participates (help making friendship bracelets, walking sticks, awards and certificates, etc.).
If you would like to help click on the following link, fill out the form, and let us know how you would like to participate in Wilderness Warriors and help us to get our young people to take a greater interest in the natural world by developing innovative and fun ways in which to spark their imagination.

Our children are being denied the fundamental sense of independence and freedom in nature that their parents enjoyed. Research shows that contact with nature has halved in a generation, and that the overwhelming majority of children now want more opportunities to play outdoors.
Watch for upcoming blogs for some ideas we have. Our hope is to start getting children involved this summer.
Please help our children and fill out the form above. None of your information will ever be shared with other sources.
Thanks,
Paralee Dawson Hayward
